4th South Yarra Guides Special Centenary Challenge
In term 2 of Guides 4th South Yarra took on the challenge of the very special Centenary Challenge for the ANZAC badge. This consisted of many activities that girls completed to a very high standard and enjoyed every minute of it. One of the challenges that the girls both in the guide hall and in their own homes was making the felt, knitted and crocheted poppy. These poppies were part of the wonderful display at Federation Square- we tried to see these on the ANZAC day parade but it was hard to spot our own. This was a great challenge for girls as many had never knitted before, allowing them to learn a new skill and to spend time with their grandparents and family members who could help share in this challenge. Towards the end of the term 4th South Yarra took a trip to the Shrine of Remembrance to further embrace the centenary year of ANZAC day. Overall the girls loved the many different aspects to this badge, especially the fact that it was an excuse to eat a few batches of ANZAC biscuits.
