Backpacks4Kids – Blue Dolphin

Blue Dolphin, Service

Backpacks4Kids

My final service project for my BP was compiling backpacks to send to the organisation Backpacks4Kids. This organisation gives backpacks full of basic needs to kids going in to foster care or emergency accommodation that becomes their own. In this photo is a backpack compiled for a 12-14 year old girl and I have made 3 others. It is a cause close to my heart and I hope that my project has made a difference to these kids. I’d like to thank all the parents and Guides at Noble Park as well as the external contributors for supporting me in this project. I’d especially like to thank Brolga (Cathy) for going out of her way to help make this project a success.

Canoeing @ Karkarook – Blue Dolphin

Blue Dolphin, Outdoors, Paddling Around

On 19/11/17 I went canoeing & kayaking at Karkarook Lake with the Paddling Around Team and also did some rescue skills . I enjoyed kayaking the most since I could play games and enhance my skills. The hardest one is canoeing because I am not the strongest person so I found it hard to turn the boat and paddle fast. The rescuing was also hard since I am not that tall and couldn’t reach the bottom any of the time. I really enjoyed this experience and recommend it to old and young Guides; it was fun, educational and healthy. I hope a lot of you go out there and do some water activities.

Clean Up Australia Day – Blue Dolphin

Blue Dolphin, Clean Up Australia Day, Service

Sunday the 4th of March 2018 was Clean Up Australia Day.

I (Kaitlyn P.), a Langwarrin Junior Girl Guide, with my father (Adam), attended the Lloyd Park Clean Up Australia day site.  The whole group worked together and collected a lot of rubbish. I also met Neale Burgess MP who also attended.  My dad and I pulled out a large table amongst other rubbish.  It was a lot of fun.  There were a lot of Scouts. My Guides did Clean up at the beach during their meeting on Wednesday but I was on school camp so could not attend.  By: Kaitlyn P.
